"An extraordinary and wonderful collaboration."

"Rare and unique doesn't even begin to describe
this album." - Music Week
In 1990, Biggie Tembo left one of Africa's most successful
bands "The Bhundu Boys" to start a solo career.
The extraordinary repercussions of this act were not to
be felt until some time later. The Bhundu Boys were published
by Island Music, so when Biggie left the band, Island
Records decided to take him on to their label as a solo
artist. Startled Insects were also with Island Records
at this time, and for some unknown reason (a hunch, perversity?),
the man in charge suggested that Biggie might try and
work with them. They had just brought out an album of
esoteric instrumental music called "Curse of the
Pheromones", which was given to Biggie. When Biggie
met with the Insects some weeks later, they discovered
that he had written lyrics to the melodies for every one
of the ten songs on the album. Impressed by such dedication,
but not wanting to simply re-record old material, they
decided to write a new album together. The end result
was a musical record of an astounding personal journey
that challenged everyone's perception of who they were,
our relationship to each other as human beings, and the
relationship between Britain and members of it's former
African colonies, and includes a version of Biggie's classic
track "Out of Africa".
